Some stuff

Linkage and photoalbums are back, and I’ve upgraded to the latest and greatest version of Movable Type. Everything appears to be working.

The little Ranger that could

They’re going to fix my truck!

I think I’m happy about this, but I can’t help but feel suspicious about the whole thing. I mean, I saw my truck. I inspected it. The shit is fucked up, bad. I didn’t think there was any way it could be fixed for a reasonable amount of money.

But my insurance company is willing to spend $2300. This was a big surprise to me–I thought I was only covered up to $1600. Oh well, I’m not going to argue. The thing that I find peculiar is this: the body shop that I took my truck to has quoted *exactly* $2300 to fix the damage. Doesn’t that sound a little odd to you? This is the body shop that my insurance company insisted that I take my truck to.

Let’s recap. Someone hits my truck and diasppears. I call insurance company and they say to take it to ABC body shop. ABC body shop says they can fix it. My insurance company says that they’ll cover $2300. ABC body shop quotes exactly that amount, $2300.

What a scam. Whatever, it doesn’t cost my anything. I never really cared about my truck’s looks anyway. All I ever wanted was a reliable truck. I hope that after I get it back it still is.

Hit and run

Friday night Dave came over. We hung out for a bit, and then went to my sister Deborah’s “holiday” party.

I had a great time! Dave and I stood in the kitchen most of the time, telling stories and socializing. But alas, Dave had to be home by 1am. We left just after 11:30pm.

I drove Dave’s truck up the hill towards my house. As I pulled up I noticed a small gathering of neighbors, huddled around my truck.

Just minutes earlier someone had come roaring over the hill. They slammed on the brakes, sliding for a good 50 feet before colliding with my poor little truck.

My poor truck. It was just sitting there, parked on the street in front of my house, minding its own business. And some jackass plows into it.

Not only that, but the driver ran. And he got away. Fucker…

A few hours later the police showed up to take a quick report. He told me not to hold my breath–they wouldn’t find the person who did this.
