More JLS

Yesterday Scott calls us to say he’s almost to Oakland, so Dave and I packed up shop and drove to Jack London Square. The three of us haven’t been in the same room together in over two years–well, except for Friday and, well, then again on Monday.

We stopped for Happy Hour at Uno’s Pizza to drink draught beers and plan our golf trip to Truckee next week. Dave left around 8pm and Scott and I went to Heinhold’s First and Last Chance for a few more rounds of bullshit and beer.

It sure is nice to see Scott so much recently. I hope he keeps coming the Bay Area and not Sparks, Portola, or Dunsmuir.

CSI

Last month Wil Wheaton (Stand By Me, Star Trek TNG) guest starred in a CSI (Las Vegas) episode. I had never before seen an episode, but being a fan of Mr. Wheaton I tuned in to check it out. He had less than 5 minutes of screen time, but his character was cool and so was the episode. I didn’t think much more about CSI.

The week after that I’m flipping around the channels, bored, nothing to do, and I see that Spike TV has two hours of CSI each weeknight from 7pm to 9pm. I watch them both. Hey, this CSI show is pretty good.

Monday Wednesday and Friday my buddy Dave comes over, around 3pm, and plays WoW on my computer until 10pm or so, and then he drives home. I used to watch him play and give him pointers, but he’s now to the point where he can play on his own without help. So I drink beer and watch TV, he plays WoW and drinks beer, and we bullshit ’til he goes home.

I started watching CSI every night Dave was here. Then I started watching CSI every time it came on. Now I’m downloading every episode of CSI, all five seasons, from BitTorrents and USENET.

I’m hopelessly addicted to CSI. I even started watching CSI Miami and CSI New York. Somewhere I read there is a CSI Academy now, and if I find it I’ll watch that too.

Anyone else like CSI? Or am I the only one?

Me and Dave and Scott

Whew, what a day! Scott called to let me know he would be in Jack London Square while I was in the gym. Dave called to let me know that he was going over to have lunch with Scott. I called them both to let them know that I was coming too.

I met them at a little pizza shack on Park Street in Alameda. I think everyone who knows me knows that I hate the Bay Area, however if I had to pick one place to live here it would be the island city in the Bay. Alameda reminds me very much of Long Beach–it’s situated on the water, it has a lot of older buildings, and a main strip with all the bars and restaurants and whatnot.

Lunch was fun, we had a few pitchers of Coors Light and caught up. The three of us haven’t been in the same room together in a couple years. It was awesome to kick it with my two best friends again. After lunch we drove over to Jack London Square and sat outside, upstairs, at a little bar that looked kind of like a lighthouse. We sat in the sun and drank some more and all was right with the world.

Around 5 o’clock we picked up a 12 pack and went back to Scott’s hotel room and waited for traffic to die down. Dave went home at 8pm, and Scott and I had a nice dinner at Tony Roma’s.

And now I’m home. I miss my buddies already. I’ll see Dave tomorrow though. With Scott you just never know…
