That's great. I just turned 45 and am struggling with my weight at 342. Doing WW but it tough when I'm so stressed out from work all the time. Keep up the goo work.

So far so good! I'm down to 291 pounds as of this morning. That's a 10 year low for me. I'd like to lose about 40 more. It's been an amazing year. I'm going to be 40 next month and I feel like I'm in my 20s again!

Thanks Viper =) So far my new diet is working great! In a nutshell, I avoid refined sugars, all grains, and starches. My gut is sooooooooo much better. I feel like a normal person again. Oh, and I'm losing weight too--that's a nice side bonus.

Hey Skillet,

Just read this blogpost right now. I get similar symptoms whenever I eat too many carbs. Two years ago I was diagnosed with a very mild case of Crohn's disease. It's an autoimmune disease that affects the GI tract, especially the ileum area. I was originally having other issues. and the doc ordered a colonoscopy "just to see". They discovered I had little ulcers in the intestine; classic Crohn's. I now take 3 giant blue pills, twice a day, to keep the inflammation down. The doc said that I didn't need to omit any foods from my diet, but I do have trigger foods which give me diarrhea/stomach cramping within 30 minutes of eating (sorry, I know, gross.) I have noticed that carbs make me bloated and gassy, so I try to reduce those. My whole point is, I kinda sorta know what you're going through. So hang in there, and I hope the new diet continues working for you!

I would never criticize you Tom, I hope you don't feel like you are being picked on for your diet. I have noticed that I'm treated considerably different since I've gained weight everywhere I go and I'm in pain all the time. It really sucks. I'm glad you found something that works for you and I wish you continued success! Lots of Love, Karen

That's awesome, I'm glad you found something that works for you. It was hard for me to give up a number of those items, but now when I'm approached with them I don't really want them, or if I do break down and have a soda it tastes horrible to me now after the first sip(I can't remember the last time I actually bought a soda).

Keep it up! It sounds like you're doing great! Bet its making those hikes more enjoyable too
